Thanks to the efforts of the Waitematā East Tactical Crime Unit, North Shore, Rodney & West Auckland Police officers were able to identify, track down and arrest a man allegedly responsible for the burglary of 25 different cafes, restaurants and businesses in Albany.
Earlier this month the unit identified a spate of burglaries where an offender wearing high visibility clothing broke into a number of businesses, before stealing money from their tills and fleeing.
Due to some excellent investigative work, their officers were able to identify the offender and link him to a number of similar burglaries in Silverdale as well.
With the assistance of the police helicopter Eagle and a dog unit, police carried out a search warrant at an address in Waiwera where they located the offender on the beach nearby.
The man was taken into custody and was due to appear in the Waitakere District Court on the 27th March charged with 25 counts of burglary.
A great result and effort to stop this offender from targeting more businesses through this type of offending.
At Business North Harbour we also care about you and your businesses’ security. For this reason, our contracted security patrols will continue to operate throughout the lockdown period. But this also requires to do your part by adhering to a couple of lock-up procedures.
