Dig in! Te Hononga a Iwi Working Bee

Final community planting session for Spring

Our volunteers have done an amazing job at the Te Hōnonga a Iwi Restoring Rosedale Park project site, shifting 15,000 tonnes of mulch and planting more than 3000 native trees.

We have one more community volunteer day this Saturday to complete our last task for the Spring planting season.

Helpers will be mixing cover crop seeds with Untangled Landscape’s live compost inoculant and spreading it across the newly planted areas of the site.

The cover crop has a variety of jobs – it will cover and stabilise the soil, form a low canopy for moisture retention over summer, hinder kikuyu and weed regrowth, provide organic matter (photosynthates) and break up compaction.

Sowing cover crops is a job that even our youngest volunteers can do so bring the whole family along on Saturday.
