Final community planting session for Spring
We have one more community volunteer day this Saturday to complete our last task for the Spring planting season.
Helpers will be mixing cover crop seeds with Untangled Landscape’s live compost inoculant and spreading it across the newly planted areas of the site.
The cover crop has a variety of jobs – it will cover and stabilise the soil, form a low canopy for moisture retention over summer, hinder kikuyu and weed regrowth, provide organic matter (photosynthates) and break up compaction.
Sowing cover crops is a job that even our youngest volunteers can do so bring the whole family along on Saturday.
Spring Planting Day
When: 10am – 1pm, Saturday, 24 September
Where: Te Hōnonga a Iwi Restoring Rosedale Park project site, behind Hilton Brown Swimming in Volkner Place, Albany
What to bring: Gumboots or old shoes, a raincoat, gardening gloves, drinking water and snacks

Parking: The Hilton Brown Swimming carpark is not available on Saturdays so either look for street parking in the nearby area or park at North Harbour Hockey and walk to the site.
