On 22 August, the Government announced that mandatory recordkeeping is being introduced for busy places and events to ensure the Government can contact trace quickly.
This requirement will come into effect 7 days after the next Alert Level change. This will provide businesses and other locations time to ensure they have record keeping systems and processes in place.
This requirement applies to:
Visitors to aged care and healthcare facilities
Cinemas, theatres, casinos and concerts
Customers at massage parlours, beauticians, barbers, hairdressers and exercise facilities
Customers at cafes, restaurants, bars and nightclubs
Indoor public facilities, such as libraries, museums, swimming polls
Social gatherings including those at mare, weddings, funerals, tangihanga and faith-based services
Visitors to courts and tribunals, local and central government agencies, and social services providers with customer service counters such as councils, Ministry of Social Developments offices
Relevant businesses and locations will be responsible for having systems and processes in place to ensure, as far as is reasonably practicable, that customers or visitors make a record.
There will be guidance developed to support businesses to comply with the new requirements.
