NCI night closures for OGPA surfacing

Now that the weather is warmer, we are able to lay the final OGPA (open graded porous asphalt) surfacing on SH1 in both directions between Constellation Drive and Oteha Valley Road and on SH18 in both directions between Caribbean Drive/Paul Matthews Road and Albany Highway.

We will have up to three asphalt crews working in tandem to ensure the work is completed as fast as practically possible.  OGPA is used as it has increased skid resistance, reduces noise pollution and has more safety advantages compared to most other pavement surfaces.

How will it affect you?
Our work has been carefully planned to keep disruption to a minimum; however, there will be some noise, heavy machinery and trucks moving. This work requires a combination of lane restrictions and/or full road closures at night. If you would like to be kept informed of our weekly road closures, please send us an email.

The work is scheduled to begin 24th September and will happen typically between 8:00pm- 5:00am Sunday – Thursday nights.

We apologise in advance for any disruption our work may cause. If you have any further questions, please contact our Community Engagement Manager Emma Cushnie by email emma.cushnie@northerncorridor.co.nz or by phone on 027 532 4305.
