Traffic switches now live on SH1 and SH18

NORTHERN CORRIDOR IMPROVEMENTS UPDATE

Those travelling through the project area may have noticed that our team carried out two traffic switches, one on SH1 and one on SH18 this month, and you’re now driving on a different part of the motorway. These switches were necessary so we could move our work area and the changes are detailed below.

SH1: The southbound off-ramp at Upper Harbour Highway has returned to its original position, approximately 400m further south than it previously was. We originally kept the bus only off-ramp open but closed it after a few days because we noticed a lot of drivers were using this off-ramp and not the correct Upper Harbour Highway off-ramp. It was important to close the bus only off-ramp as it’ll soon become a direct bus lane into Constellation Station. Should drivers take this route, they’ll find themselves in the wrong place, so we want you to get used to using the correct off-ramp before that happens.

SH18: We needed to shift westbound vehicles from the current lanes so that we can continue work on building the new road which will become the westbound on-ramp. While you will notice that you’re now driving on a different part of the road, traffic cones are guiding drivers along the new route, so you don’t need to make any decisions about where to go.
