Business North Harbour (BNH) is working in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs & Trade (MFAT) to provide a short series of monthly articles containing useful information and resources to BNH members who currently export or are considering trading in offshore markets.

In this final article we provide information on MFAT’s Export Controls Regime and The Export Help Desk.

Export Controls – Aotearoa New Zealand’s Export Controls regime is to regulate the export of goods which may be intended for use that could, directly or indirectly, be to the detriment of Aotearoa New Zealand’s security or national interests, or contribute to human rights abuse or the contravention of international humanitarian law.  These comprise strategic goods; and also certain other goods intended for export to military and police end-users. The Export Helpdesk – If you have an issue exporting to an offshore market, the export helpdesk is here to help with a dedicated team who will look into the issue and identify what government agency is best placed to assist you.
