Auckland Council has relaunched its annual Pothole Promise, committing to repair 95% of reported potholes on the city’s busiest roads within 24 hours.
The initiative aims to improve road safety, reduce vehicle damage and keep Auckland’s transport network moving efficiently.
For businesses across the North Harbour area, well-maintained roads are essential for daily operations, deliveries, customer access and staff commuting.
How quickly will potholes be repaired?
Under the Pothole Promise, Auckland Council has set the following repair targets:
- Within 24 hours: 95% of reported potholes on busy arterial and regional roads.
- Within five working days: Potholes on other sealed roads.
Auckland Council maintains approximately 8,000 kilometres of local roads, including more than 1,000 kilometres of high-volume arterial and regional routes.
Last year’s campaign saw 642 potholes repaired in just four weeks. More than 600 kilometres of sealed roads were also resurfaced across Auckland last year, with an expanded programme planned for 2026/27.
Why this matters to North Harbour businesses
Potholes can damage vehicles, create safety risks and disrupt business operations, particularly for companies relying on transport and logistics.
Prompt reporting and repairs can help improve commuting conditions, minimise vehicle maintenance costs and support more reliable access to local businesses.
