BNH’s 2020 events calendar fired up with a speed dating event for local businesses and

17 sporting organisations:

• – Badminton North Harbour
• – Tennis Northern
• – North Harbour Tag
• – North Harbour Diving
• – North Harbour Rugby
• – Harbour Volleyball Association
• – Netball North Harbour
• – North Shore Table Tennis Association
• – North Harbour Basketball Association
• – AFL New Zealand
• – Harbour Sport
• – North Harbour BMX
• – Pupuke Golf Club
• – North Shore Squash
• – Auckland Tuatara – Baseball

Between them, they represent more than 80,000 members.

The role of sponsors for any non-profit is crucial, and Alan Yates from Giltrap North Shore (which sponsors several community sports groups) gave a quick and informative introduction about the simple ways in which organisations can support their supporters:

• – Include sponsors’ names and logos on your website
• – Share updates from them in your e-newsletters and member news
• – Invite them to prizegiving events – and remember to publicly acknowledge them!

Then it was “under starter’s orders” and the speed dating got underway! The whistle blew every two-and-a-half minutes, so that everyone had the chance to work their way around the room and make those oh-so important connections.
