Asian Boss Collective
55 Café Albany
While the spotlight often misses those quietly holding everything together, Asian Business Collective | Boss’ Day 2025 made sure Asian business owners finally had their moment. Hosted at 55 Café, this special evening brought over 120 business owners for a much-needed opportunity to pause, connect, and recharge in good company.
Amid a challenging economic climate, the event created space for honest conversations, mutual support, and a celebration of the strength, resilience, and heart that power our businesses every day.
The evening began with warm and thoughtful remarks from Kevin O’Leary, General Manager of Business North Harbour, who spoke to the value of connection and the vital contributions Asian business owners make to the region’s growth and success. This was followed by BNH ambassador Ben Yang who reminded us of the power of unity, shared experiences, and support within our tight-knit community. His message of belonging truly set a meaningful and uplifting tone for the night.
We were honoured to welcome three distinguished speakers:
- Nancy Lu – New Zealand Member of Parliament
- Addie Wang – Principal, RSM NZ
- Grace Wee – Tax Principal, RSM New Zealand
They offered valuable insights into government economic plans, business resilience, and the broader financial outlook. They emphasised that progress is already happening, both from government initiatives and within the economy itself. However, the key message was clear: lasting, meaningful growth relies on continued participation from all of us. As business owners, we play an active role in shaping the future of this country’s economy. By staying optimistic, doing the right things, and supporting one another, we can build a stronger, more sustainable business community together.
It was more than just talks. The lucky draws, the spontaneous business pitches, and the friendly energy in the room showed just how much joy and pride our community carries. Even after a long day, and with another workday ahead, people stayed late into the evening—eating, talking, cheering for each other, and simply enjoying the warm atmosphere. Conversations flowed as people shared their own stories; the challenges, wins, and lessons that come with running a business today.
Our heartfelt thanks go out to all our sponsors and partners who stood beside us and made this event possible. Your generosity brought everyone together to enjoy this rare and meaningful moment of connection.
