BNH out Supporting Nature-Led Resilience

Business North Harbour is proud to support the ongoing restoration of Rosedale Park, contributing to the regeneration of a thriving native forest in the Albany Basin through Te Hōnonga a Iwi/Restoring Rosedale Park.

As part of this commitment, the Business North Harbour team recently visited the Restore Rosedale Park site to get hands-on with restoration efforts, focusing on the removal of invasive Morning Glory. This fast-growing vine is notoriously difficult to control once established, smothering native plants and hindering regeneration. Tackling it directly is a critical step in giving native species the space and conditions they need to recover and thrive.

Healthy natural environments underpin our communities and our economy. They play a vital role in mitigating the impacts of extreme weather, supporting biodiversity, and enhancing the overall liveability of our region. For businesses, investing in nature-based solutions is increasingly seen as a practical and forward-thinking way to reduce risk, adapt to climate challenges, and strengthen operational resilience.

Each year, the Business North Harbour team dedicates time to restoration work, demonstrating what can be achieved through collective action. This commitment highlights the potential impact if more businesses became involved. With around 4,000 businesses in the area, even one action each could significantly transform Auckland’s landscape and strengthen its economic future.

This work is about more than environmental restoration; it’s about creating a legacy that businesses in the North Harbour area can be proud of. By supporting initiatives that enhance ecosystem health, we are also investing in the wellbeing of our people, the strength of our economy, and the sustainability of our future.

Businesses interested in making a practical contribution to local environmental resilience are encouraged to get involved with Restore Rosedale Park. Volunteering time on-site is a valuable way to support ecosystem restoration while building team engagement and demonstrating environmental leadership.
