The Fujian Commence Department

The Fujian Commerce Department, Bank of China Auckland Branch, and the Fujian Chamber of
Commerce of New Zealand collaborated to organise a Trade and Economic Cooperation
matchmaking meeting between New Zealand and Fujian. Business North Harbour had the pleasure
of attending this meeting, exploring the possibility of leading a delegation to the Fujian Province,
comprising some of our local businesses.

During the event, we were fortunate to represent Business North Harbour and provide the Fujian
Delegation with an overview of our Business District. Our presentation was warmly received, and
we were invited to visit the Fujian Province in the future.

Huang Dezhi, the Deputy Director and First-class Inspector of the Fujian Provincial Department of Commerce, introduced the policy advantages, industrial development, and business environment of Fujian Province. He pointed out that Fujian attaches great importance to its friendly cooperation with New Zealand. Over the years, with the joint efforts of both sides, the economic and trade cooperation has achieved positive results. New Zealand is Fujian’s second-largest trading partner in Oceania. In 2022, the imports and exports between Fujian and New Zealand amounted to 162 billion RMB, an increase of 12.1% year-on-year. From January to August 2023, the imports and exports between Fujian and New Zealand reached 109.3 billion RMB, an increase of 5.2% year-on-year. As of August 2023, there were 115 investment projects from New Zealand in Fujian Province with an actual investment of 68.20 million US dollars. Fujian has recorded 10 foreign enterprises and branch institutions invested by New Zealand with a Chinese agreed investment amount of 73.02 million US dollars.

Zhengshan Tea Co., Ltd. has signed a memorandum of cooperation with the New Zealand Federation Chinese Tea Culture.

We look forward to the prospect of further engagement and productive partnerships between our
regions.
