Getting started

Step 1

Check if your finance or accounting system is eInvoicing enabled. See the eInvoicing enabled software providers list. If they’re not enabled now, check if they’re planning to be.

Find an eInvoicing enabled provider today:

Software providers

If you don’t use finance or accounting systems, or issue many invoices, there are free eInvoicing online portals with basic eInvoicing capabilities available.

Step 2

Get your eInvoicing enabled software provider to activate the eInvoicing feature on your existing system.

Step 3

You’re ready to eInvoice. Start to send and/or receive invoices directly through your finance or accounting system.

Your access point provider and suppliers will want to record your NZ Business Number (NZBN). This number is the unique global identifier that ensures your suppliers’ eInvoices reach you. If you don’t have one already, it’s easy and free to get one.

You’ll also want your buyers’ NZBNs for the same reason.

Find or register for an NZBN

Cost to implement eInvoicing

Most small business accounting and finance software provide free eInvoicing capability. Ongoing costs are generally based on the number of eInvoices you receive, with little or no cost to send.
